This Day in History- August 29th 1972
On August 29, 1972, President
Richard M. Nixon held his 27th news conference. The topic was the burgeoning Watergate
scandal, a scandal that would eventually result in Nixon’s resignation on
August 9, 1974. Forty-six years after
that press conference, we all still remember Watergate. It’s a part of American history, and a
reminder that we need to remember our past.
Remember it, but not dwell on it.
We learn from our past, both great moments and distressing moments, but
we must keep our focus on the present, with a healthy, educated guess at what
the future holds.
